About The SALTO Study

The SALTO study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of an oral investigational medicine for children and adolescents with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The investigational medicine has been approved for adults in the United States, but is not approved for children and adolescents with PAH. Before a medicine can be approved, it must be tested in a research study. There is a significant need to conduct pediatric research studies (in general) to gather more information that could be used to treat children and adolescents with PAH. The SALTO study is part of this research.

The safety and effectiveness of the investigational medicine will be compared to placebo. A placebo looks like the investigational medicine but contains no active drug or ingredients. Your child will continue to take his or her prescribed PAH medicines during the study along with the investigational medicine or placebo.

The results of the SALTO study will provide more information about the investigational medicine and will help determine if it could be approved for children and adolescents with PAH.
